I try my best to not buy Reed baby food.
I keep a few jars in the house, but for the most part I try to feed him whatever I'm eating.
It encourages me to eat well and I know exactly what my little dude is eating.
It's also fun trying to get creative and pinching off pieces of my paleo pancakes to give to him.
I never thought I would like sharing ;)
This morning I just made a smoothie for breakfast.
1 banana
1/2 c frozen strawberries
1/2 c spinach
1/2 c fave juice
1/4 c water
Just a simple little smoothie.
It was thin, so if you like yours more thick I would put less liquid.
I decided to put some in a sippy cup for Reed, I put a little warm water in it so it would be thinner and easier to drink. I put warm water so the frozen strawberries wouldn't give him a brain freeze.
The kid LOVED IT.
There's something really satisfying about seeing spinach flakes all down your babies chin.
Then he had some strawberry oatmeal I had blended up for him a few days ago.
To make that I just made some oatmeal and put it in the blender with some frozen strawberries.
At first making his baby food was hard.
I either spent hours in the kitchen steaming and pureeing, or I couldn't think of anything and ended up giving him store bought.
Now I just kinda use what I have on hand instead of setting a day aside to make a month's worth.
It's what has worked for us.
The full and satisfied look of a grown man.
On a side note: currently I'm sitting here/writing this post waiting on these crazies to pull up to my house...
They haven't been to Traverse City since Reed was born. (We have been to NC so we have seen them.)
BUT they haven't seen Reedster cruise around on all fours.
Oh, it's a sight.
I can't wait to hug them!
PS that's my momma behind those hands :) papa tried to help me out so she couldn't hide behind the laptop but apparently she's too quick (and smart) for us.
