I'm in need of a huge life project.
And this just may be the perfect one.
I don't know about you guys, but personally, I struggle to realize the daily gifts our Father gives us. Like REALLY struggle. I'm not gonna get into the reasons I struggle, because let's be honest, that would be listing all the not so perfect gifts.
But isn't that why I'm here? Because I don't see everything as a gift?
Romans 8:28 says "And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose."
All things.
Every single thing.
The thing that makes me feel like I'm alone, the thing that brings me to my knees and the thing I beg for Him to take away. When God disciplines me to teach me the lesson I need to learn. (Hebrews 12:6)
Every time it's for my good.
I decided I am going to be completely honest and raw here. I'm at a place where I really need to realize this. This scripture that is so easy to send someone to when they are in pain. But when I am in pain, do I live it?
I decided to read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.
That's the one.
I'm only on page 62 and I'm hooked.
If you've read it you know she starts the list. And if you haven't read it, she sets out to make a list of one thousand gifts. Documenting them with pictures when she can.
I love that idea.
So I started my list, and I'm sharing it here.
I am so far from knowing what I'm doing when it comes to photography but I'm hoping I can get betther through this little project.
And it starts here...
1. Daddy, son diaper changes.
2. Post nap smiles.
3. Afternoons in the kitchen. (Like I said, I'm learning when it comes to my DSLR. Hahah.)
4. Naked babies with healthy rolls.
5. Peace of mind knowing my baby's belly is full.
6. Shoes to keep our feet warm during winter.
7. Family walks.
8. Cozy baby flannel.
9. Morning light.
10. Cool comfy sheets.
11. Quiet evenings working.
12. The blessing of being able to look back at Reed as a newborn.
I want to say that a lot of these aren't that special, but they all are. Being intentional and realizing the beauty of the small things is what will birth a truly thankful and fully submissive heart.
And that is my goal.
